
Tahlia Owen
Speech Pathologist/Clinical Lead
Tahlia is a Speech Pathologist who works from our Medowie site. Tahlia graduated from the University of Newcastle and is passionate about providing speech pathology services in Port Stephens, where she has strong connections as she resides in the area with her school-aged daughter.
Tahlia enjoys working through family-centred practice and evidence-based interventions to support her clients to achieve their communication goals. Tahlia works with our paediatric clients and particularly enjoys working with preschool aged children to prepare them for the speech, language and literacy demands of Kindergarten and beyond. Tahlia is a neuro-affirming Speech Pathologist and has experience working with neurodiverse children including those diagnosed with Autism, ADHD, and Dyslexia.
Tahlia has completed additional training in The Lidcombe Program for stuttering, Sounds-Write for literacy, and Hanen It Takes Two to Talk for early language intervention. Tahlia has enjoyed her further training in Childhood Apraxia of Speech, with Jennie Bjorem, and motor-planning interventions ReST and DTTC. Tahlia has experience in trialling and prescribing Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) with her clients and is confident using LAMP WFL and Proloquo2Go.
